This past Sunday marked a significant milestone for the Caboolture and Wararba Creek catchment areas as 13,000 baby Australian Bass fingerlings were successfully released into the waterways. This effort, driven by the dedication of our volunteers and the support of Hanwood Hatchery, represents another step forward in our mission to sustain and rejuvenate local fish populations.
A New Generation of Australian Bass
The fingerlings, tiny but full of promise, were carefully transported and acclimated in tanks before being introduced to their new homes across the catchment. It’s always a thrilling sight to see these young fish, knowing that in time, they will grow and contribute to the vibrant aquatic ecosystems that define our region.
Team Effort and Community Spirit
We are incredibly grateful to the volunteers from the Caboolture Shire Fish Stocking Group Inc. who helped with the release. Their efforts ensured that the fingerlings were distributed evenly across the catchment, giving them the best possible start in their new environment. It’s this kind of community spirit that makes our ongoing stocking programs so successful.
Special Thanks to Craig from Hanwood Hatchery
A special shout-out goes to Craig from Hanwood Hatchery, whose expertise and commitment provided us with the fingerlings. The quality and care that go into raising these fish are second to none, and we are fortunate to have such a reliable partner in our efforts to keep our waterways thriving.
Looking to the Future
As these fingerlings grow, they will play a crucial role in maintaining the balance and health of the Caboolture and Wararba Creek ecosystems. We’ll be keeping a close eye on their progress, and we’re already looking forward to future restocking events that will continue to support our local fish populations.
Thank you once again to everyone who played a part in this important initiative. Together, we’re making a real difference for our environment and ensuring that our waterways remain healthy and abundant for generations to come.
